Course content:
  • Grip acquisition & transitions: building, breaking and re-establishing a solid grip.
  • Handgun presentation: smooth, efficient presentation; getting the gun into the fight.
  • Baseline setting: establishing measurable, repeatable performance standards.
  • Engaging multiple targets: target transitions, prioritisation and sequencing.
  • Slide-lock & emergency reloads: speed, efficiency and reload selection.
  • Malfunction clearance / immediate action: failure-to-fire drills and manipulations.
  • Shot calling & target prioritisation: deciding what to shoot and when.
  • Reactive & predictive shooting: responding to threats and predicting action.
  • Cadence & trigger control: shot rhythm, follow-through and recovery.
  • Structure confirmation drills: pushing the limits.
  • Accuracy under stress: increasing distance and engaging low-percentage targets.
  • Distance transitions: smooth movement and engagement from close - far and far - close.

 

What to bring along:
  • A legal handgun.
  • 300 rounds minimum (preferably 350). Extra ammo can be arranged ahead of time for on-range availability.
  • A sturdy belt with an IWB or OWB holster.
  • Magazine pouch plus at least one spare magazine (pistol). For revolvers, bring a speed loader if possible.
  • A completed indemnity form (also available at the range).
  • Own food and drinks (non-alcoholic). Don’t forget plenty of water.
  • Ear protection.
  • Eye protection.
  • Notebook, pen & permanent marker.
  • An open mind and a serious attitude to learn.

 

Pre-range rules:
  1. Firearms must arrive secured - in a holster, box, or bag.
  2. Do not handle or unholster your firearm until instructed.
  3. Report to the Range Officer immediately upon arrival.
  4. Complete and sign the range register.
  5. Only unpack or handle firearms with the Range Officer’s permission.

 

Suitable Dress:
  • Closed shoes with good grip (boots or takkies).
  • Cap/hat with a firm peak (baseball style).
  • Durable shirt & pants for comfort and movement.
  • Jacket that can zip or button open.
  • Sturdy belt to support gear.
